Mount Cinnamon Beach Resort is a Platinum rated Green Globe Resort. Mount Cinnamon is fully committed to achieving environmental and social sustainability. We pay close attention to the impact our resort can have on our environment based on our location and resort features. We aim to reduce any negative impact our resort may have on the flora and fauna as well as the ecosystems around us.
We employ safe, sustainable practices as part of our core values and policies. These practices include energy and water conservation as well as waste and ecosystem management. Mount Cinnamon utilizes various forms of technology to conserve and minimize the use of our natural and renewable resources, such as aerators in faucets, low flush toilets, composting, and Inverter /AC units. Additionally, food waste is used in our on-site organic garden and off-site farm to regenerate plant growth.
Our resort is also the home of various animal species with iguana, osprey, yellow breasted bananaquit, all being observed throughout the property.
Over the next 12 months, the resort aims to further reduce its impact on the environment by improving our recycling initiatives, implementing a rainwater harvesting system, and moving to the use of recycled paper. We will also continue our efforts with coastal clean ups and forums to improve awareness such as our upcoming Grenada Sea Spice event.
Further, another key focus, is the development of our human capital at our resort and throughout Grenada and the region. Through our Hospitality training school, the West Indies School of Hospitality (WISH) and partnerships with eCornell University and The Culinary Institute of America, Mount Cinnamon sponsors thousands of hospitality scholarships each year. We deliver a comprehensive curriculum of over 1,500 lessons via our On Demand and Expert-Led platforms to create learning paths for Caribbean people in the Hospitality and Service Industries for a more empowered, confident, and efficient workforce, and in turn a more competitive Caribbean destination.
We also employ our local talent by empowering local employees through our investment in training and development.
Mount Cinnamon has been a part of Green Globe for 10 years and has appointed a Green Team who is responsible for maintaining our sustainability practices and performance. We also employ an independent Environmental Officer appointed by Green Globe to audit our practices. We have recently been given notification by Green Globe that we have qualified for the Platinum Rating, Green Globe’s highest.
We are committed to our local community, partnering with local farmers and fishermen to supply our resort with produce.
